Dr. Katie Shamberger has a background in chemical oceanography, including interests in ocean acidification, and the inorganic carbon cycle in coral reef ecosystems. These have been applied to a range of field locations including Kaneohe Bay, American Samoa, and most recently Palau. Currently, she is an assistant professor with the Oceanography Department at Texas A&M University, College Station. Prior to this, she served as a WHOI Postdoctoral Scholar at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, under the guidance of Dr. Anne Cohen. Katie Shamberger received her Ph.D. in Chemical Oceanography from the University of Washington in 2011 under the supervision of Dr. Dick Feely and Dr. Chris Sabine, her M.S. in Chemical Oceanography from the University of Hawaii in 2005 under the supervision of Dr. Fred Mackenzie, and a B.A. in Marine Science with an emphasis in Chemistry from the University of San Diego in 2001.
